Peopleton Pantry is a community owned and run village shop. Following the retirement of the previous shop owner in 2010, the property was bought and retained locally and from there a Community Enterprise was formed which raised money in the new venture through the selling of shares to local people. Villagers and those from the surrounding parish have wholeheartedly bought into the idea and now, following its opening in 2010, it is a thriving business serving the community, run by volunteers, and supporting local producers and suppliers – these things are at the heart of what the shop is all about.

Peopleton Pantry is made up of three entities:

• The shop itself
• The Post Office
• The Tea Room

The shop is a proud supporter of the “Making Local Food Work” programme. Part of the programme is the “Look for Local Food” project which aims to help community-run and traditional independent shops to stock and sell more locally produced food, thereby also creating valuable retail outlets for small-scale producers. This means that a lot of the staple foods we stock are sourced from within 30 miles or from within the county.
